Saxophone Ensemble

The Saxophone Ensemble welcomes saxophonists of all age and ability, with all saxophone types catered for. The ensemble gives at least 2 concerts per year of a wide musical output, ranging from classical music to jazz.

Recent repertoire includes:

  • Golliwog’s Cakewalk (Debussy)
  • Slavonic Dance no 8 (Dvorak)
  • Nimrod (Elgar)
  • Rhapsody in Blue (Gershwin)

Rosie is a first year Music student and has been an active member of the UMS since she joined. She had never had the opportunity to conduct before coming to the University and leapt at the chance to conduct the UMS Saxophone Ensemble. She enjoyed the experience greatly and now hopes to pursue a career in conducting.
